Two Japanese live on the Island.
Mr.Hamanaka (36 from Tokushima) and the other are nature guides Kazu Yamamura (from Kyoto).

I would like to applaud the way of life of the two who have completely blended in with the Islanders.

The geology of the Island is that basalt is covered with limestone fossils (coral fossil limestone).

Groundwater, which is rainwater filtered over a long period of time,
is used as drinking water and is very safe.

There aren't many places on the Island where you can drink tap water.
Water is indispensable, and tap water can be drunk as it is.
There is nothing like this.

Even on such a small Island, there is a 9-hole golf course.
Everything is run by members and visitors are free to go around for $ 10.

There is an air-conditioned break room, but only for members.

This is the first time for an unmanned golf course.

I enjoyed playing golf after a long time with Mr.Hamanaka, the owner of the diving shop.

Of course, the crabs are with me.

A system in which charges are put in an envelope and thrown into a charge box.
It is the same as an unmanned greengrocer.

Most of the Island's inhabitants of phosphate rock shipped from the port are shareholders of the operating company.

There are many holidays at supermarkets, and restaurants are open and closed, so you can live on the Island freely.

It doesn't mean that I'm afraid to live in a relaxed way.

Another Christmas Island January 20-27, 2006

Traveling Iron Man

                                     Yoshimasa Ikeuchi.

Kotetsu's one word

Observation of rare animals and birds in nature.
Thank you for the good luck of encountering the spawning and spawning of the red crabs in a limited time.
Especially the cuteness of the red-tailed tropic chick is unforgettable.

January 26th is Australia Day.
(Holiday to commemorate the settlement of people)
Free barbecue service on the beach right next door.

Ham, sausage, fried egg, toast soft drink, are all free.

It's so crowded that I wonder where so many people come from.

Children who are happy with face painting.

The barbecue from 7am is unthinkable for Japanese people.

If you think that only red crabs are the best in the world,
coconut crabs will appear on the road and everywhere.

There are groups of 50 to 60 animals in the forest.

This coconut crab most in the world.

No matter who you ask, you won't know the number.
Unfortunately, capture is prohibited.

I remember the rich miso taste of coconut crab
that I ate on Yonaguni Island in Okinawa,
and it looks delicious no matter what crab I see.
(Why don't you take it?)

A Christmas frigatebird that dances in the sky leisurely.
Between Christmas and Denpasar,
which will be abandoned the last 11 passengers of
(Garuder Airlines) all receive special treatment in business class.

It may be something to do with the last flight.

Different from Kiribati's Christmas Island.
