I would like to applaud Mr. Akira,who is celebrating Kiju this year, for his wonderful way of life.

"Banzai" for Japanese boys who will devote themselves to this Island as long as their lives last.

Akira Toucan(77) from Yap Island High Schoolis a Japanese teacher who is celebrating her seventh year.

She grew up in Yap between the age of 5 and 12, and after she retired from a private university in Kanagawa Prefecture, she came to the Island.

She is part-time and intends to work 2-3 hours a week, but 6 hours a day is super hard.

The number of students is increasing year by year and exceeds 500, and there are not enough teachers and classrooms. Especially high level computer, go to university in Guam, Fiji, Pompeii, Hawaii.

The teachers are also international, with 15Filipinos,10Yap,6Americans,and 1Japanese.
